I love how God seems to be in everything we do – how we can know we are hearing His voice and be affirmed in the directions we are moving in and toward. When I sat down to write the message this week, I had certain thoughts, scripture, and plans for what I intended to say. As I continued to put words to paper (on the laptop screen), it became obvious that my plans were not His plans, and so the message on prayer will be delayed.
Then, having completed the message, I went to read my email. The first one I opened was a devotional, the first paragraph said, “When we are praying for our circumstances, we can become consumed by what we think the prayer should be. We tend to overcomplicate what God made very simple. We do not need many words or to sound good when we talk to our Father. We simply need to go to Him. He already knows what we need and want before we even speak. Our speaking is for us. To hear our own thoughts out loud. To put order to the disorder that may be happening in our minds. Our mindset is ordered by what we speak out loud. Often, speaking out loud can help us release what we are holding on to and need to move on from. It is also an opportunity for us to exercise our humility, relinquish our pride, and surrender before God.” Lauren Frazier
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 8 NIV-Matthew 6:7
Thank you, Jesus. I needed to hear this. I needed the reminder that in you alone I find peace, rest from my busy mind, calm from the storms and chaos that this world provides. That is when I pray, when I submit my will to yours, and listen to your voice, I find all that I need.
I pray that each of you has found this hope, faith, and peace in Christ alone.
Prayerfully,
Debba
